Supermoon May 2012
On may 6th 2012 the moon was nearer to the Earth (perigee) than at any time during the year. It was 14% larger and 30% brighter than when it is furthest away. Click the image to the left to see a photo by member Paul Curtis.

Saturn passing in front of the Crab Nebula on 4th January 2003. Even heavily overexposed it proved impossible to image both saturn and the crab at the same time. 3 satellites of saturn are clearly visible. Image by member Paul Curtis.
